Great Start Readiness Program

Preschool Program

The Great Start Readiness Program is a tuition-free, state grant funded preschool program for at-risk four-year-old students.  The program requires children to be age four on or by September 1

Our program is designed to promote the development of the total individual by helping each child to develop skills in:

  • physical areas
  • social areas
  • emotional areas
  • cognitive areas

This is accomplished by providing a balanced program that includes both teacher-directed and child initiated activities, quiet as well as active experiences, and the recognition that learning occurs in both formal and informal settings, especially through play.

The GSRP program follows the Standards of Quality and Curriculum Guidelines set by the Michigan State Board of Education and licensing requirements of the Department of Human Services.

C.O.O.R. Intermediate School District provides oversight for 20 GSRP classrooms in 1 district, 1 Public School Academy, 2 Head Start agencies as well as 3 community based sites.
